Biography for Ron Van Hee
Born and raised in Montana, Ron Van Hee has always loved the West. He graduated from high school in Lewistown, Montana and attended the University Of Montana before serving three years in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he toured much of Europe. Upon his discharge, Ron attended Bob Jones University, receiving his BA in religion. He has also done post-graduate work at Denver University. Ron was saved while attending Bob Jones University. He had been in church all of his life, taught Bible classes and was a chaplain’s assistant, but while attending the University, he realized he was religious but lost and trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He graduated from BJU in January of 1960. He met his wife, Jan, at the University. They were married in 1959. Ron became Youth Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville, IN in 1961. He then helped in the youth ministry at South Sheridan Baptist Church in Denver for a while before being called to pastor Pear Park Baptist Church in Grand Junction, CO. He also pastored churches in Elkhart, KS and Garden City, KS. In 1976 Ron accepted the call to pastor Grace Baptist Church in Rock Springs, WY where he served for over thirty-four years. The church was founded by Missionary Wally Higgins and Van Hee was the first full-time pastor. He retired from the church the last of July of 2010 and is now Pastor Emeritus. He has served on the Indiana Governor’s Youth Counsel, been a camp director, served on several mission and camp boards, has had a jail ministry and taught Bible classes at a drug rehabilitation center. He had a television program for over 31 years. He has preached in churches and Christian colleges in many states and in some foreign countries. One of the biggest emphases of Ron’s ministry has been missions. Traveling overseas while in the military gave him a first hand view of the mission field. He has also taken mission trips since he has been in the ministry, increasing his vision for the field. He also has a great burden for home missions and wants to be a blessing and help to mission churches and pastors. He has been preaching Faith Promise (Grace Giving) Missions conferences for over 40 years. God has used him help churches understand their responsibility to be involved in missions and to help raise thousands of dollars for missions. Ron’s wife, Jan, has been used of God not only as a pastor’s wife but as a teacher, a youth worker, a women’s camp, banquet and conference speaker and as an author. She has two books published: a young women’s devotional entitled “Think On these Things” and a missionary book on the life of Herbert Grings, missionary to the Congo, entitled “No Turning Back.”
